Your safari will be designed by myself and
organized in collaboration with an established Kenyan tour
operator, Concorde Safaris Ltd (www.concorde.co.ke). Concorde
Safaris will take care of all reservations, internal flights and
transfers within Nairobi. Safari Vehicles
I operate two Land Cruisers 4x4, designed and configured
specifically for wildlife photography. One has two rows of seats
in addition to the driver's, while the other one has three rows.
Both are equipped with fully opening side doors, enabling guests
to choose the best angle for their photography, from ground
level for eye to eye images, to the top of the vehicle for
panoramic vistas. The vehicles have been designed by a
photographer for photographers, taking into account all the
needs that taking images of wildlife entail. Very few other
operators have vehicles with the possibility to photograph the
animals from ground level, and sometimes it can make an enormous
difference, between a useless image and a high-impact one!
I generally suggest serious photographers with high-end
equipment or huge lenses to book one full row of seats to be
able to photograph on both sides of the vehicle without other
people in the way of your shot and for maximum freedom of
movement.
On the vehicle you will find a good selection of bean bags ready
for use. Photographers who are interested to use their tripod
heads from the vehicle can use a special support that can be
mounted on the side windows or on the roof.
Accommodation
Lodges and camps will be chosen according to two fundamental
criteria: strategic position for photography and a reasonable
level of comfort.
In Masai Mara we'll use tented camps in excellent positions for
photography, in the heart of the park, offering good food,
charging facilities for camera equipment and a very intimate
connection to the surrounding nature. All tents are wide and
en-suite, with comfortable beds and hot showers.
In other parks (Lake Nakuru NP, Samburu GR, Amboseli NP etc) we'll
use lodges or camps as close as possible to the most interesting
areas where the best photographic opportunities are. All
accommodation will be on full board basis, including breakfast,
lunch and dinner. Please report upon booking any allergy or
special dietary requirement, as these can be easily accommodated
as long as the information is available on time.
